Ten Showa Ultraman Monsters that were Never/Barely Referenced in the Future

Ultraman is certainly the longest running Tokusatsu in existence. It started in 1966, and is still continuing to this day. Many of the monsters making very descent figures, and showing up in more episodes of more shows. The monsters are what make the show even more heterogeneous. Admit it, if you watch Ultraman, it's most likely because of the artistic (but cheesy) creatures that appear in tokusatsu. Especially the Showa (old) ones, because they were way more bizarre and interesting than a large amount of the Heisei (newer) and the Mellenium (newest) ones. And to be clear, this doesn't go in any specific order, nor is this a countdown. Just a showoff on some of the sadly forgotten kaiju.

Many of the Showa monsters returned in later episodes, and later series. Examples include Gomora, Alien Baltan, Eleking, Vakishim, Alien Mephilas, and much more. But as you may not know, many didn't and frankly, were never heard of again. Some not even getting a figure made for them. And some getting extremely rare figures by obscure companies.

So, that's what we'll go through.

First off, we have...

Toad-Whale, AKA Gamakujira from the original 1966 Ultraman! This one is a little less obscure. He had several figures, including one from the infamous Bandai. It was also on the neck of Beryudora (a giant conglomerate monster from "Mega Monster Battle: Ultra Galaxy", that was pieced together by many of the Showa monsters). Gamakujira's Bandai figure was the "host" of the YouTube series, by "PudoozatheConquer", called "Gamakujira Presents" where the figure is shown to be heckling a movie, almost like "Mystery Science Theater 3000".

Here we have, Shark-Whale, AKA Samekujira, the final monster (along with Alien Valkie) from Ultraman Taro. For some reason, Alien Valkie made it into future Ultraman shows and got large amounts of figures made, but Samekujira sadly didn't catch on. Although, a figure was made by Marmit of him. He is also on Beryudora's neck. That's all the reference he has ever gotten.

Here's one that wasn't even on Beryudora. Basara, from Ultraman Taro. Basara sadly made no figures, and as mentioned earlier, was never on Beryudora. He didn't even reappear. Basara is one of the many examples of a forgotten kaiju.

Here's a brilliant example of a forgotten Choju. Machres, from Ultraman Ace! Most complain about how mundane, or normal looking it is compared to the other Choju. This could have been a part of what lead it to its obscurity. It never reappeared. It was never even on Beryudora. However, Marmit has made a figure of him that is arguably the rarest kaiju figure ever to be created.

Now, this one's sad. The ultimate finale monster. Black End, from Ultraman Leo! The very final monster is pretty much nothing but obscure nowadays. He never reappeared, except he was part of Beryudora's body. And Marmit made a quite hard to come across figure of Black End. Eventually, Bandai caught up and released a small Black End figure. Whether or not it's considered a Gashapon, is unknown to me.

This one was such a good costume for its time, and they completely forgot about him! King Galtan from Ultraman 80! Now, to be frank, Ultraman 80 is pretty obscure. But this monster looks like it had a lot of effort put into its costume, and at least get some notice. But it has been forgotten about completely. No figures, nowhere on Beryudora, and never reappeared.

This one is a hot air balloon monster. Just by that sentence, if you didn't know already, you probably already guessed that it's a Choju. Bad Baron from Ultraman Ace! One of the funniest monsters, that sadly never reappeared, was never on Beryudora, but did make a figure. His figure is made by Bear Model, and is considered to be one of the rarest.

The monster that is literally a clump of vines. Alien Wyaan from Ultraseven! He never reappeared, however he was on Beryudora's neck. Marmit made a figure of Wyaan that is difficult to find for sale, and Bandai made a hard to find, Gashapon (small figure).

This monster looks like a hybrid between a kaiju, and Roberto, and Bender, from Futurama. It's also one of the many good monsters. Sevengar from Ultraman Leo! He reappeared to cheer for Ultraman Ginga, but that's really all. Yamanaya also made quite a hard to find figure of him, as well. Going by the fact that it was thrown from a capsule to fight a monster called "Ashuran", it should have been in the Ultraman Pokemon ripoff, Ultra Galaxy.

This monster was such a cool concept, and the design was awesome too, but somehow it got forgotten too. Now admittedly, it was somewhat a Tsubaraya take on Mechagodzilla. Especially since it uses Gigan's roar. It is Mechagiras from Ultraman 80! Never appeared on Beryudora, and never reappeared later. However, there was an extremely rare figure, made by POPY. However, only recently, a figure of the monster was also made by MARRS.

Thank you for reading this, and hope you gained some Ultra knowledge! See you next time!
